what to get me for christmas: the stocking addition

17 December 2013

I've compiled this rather large collage of things that I would love to receive in my stocking and are great stocking gifts for girls. Including some tips that I don't think everyone considers when thinking about stocking shopping. I've loved shopping for Shaun's stocking this year and getting odds and ends for my brother and sisters too so thought it would be nice to share a little post like this for you last minute shoppers out there! Consider it a guide for the main man in your life to 'do good' if you like :)

boots mini's
Mini's are perfect for stockings and a great place to start as the travel size products section in boots is pretty easy to search through. You can't go wrong with soap and glory mini's or a little lip balm.

toffees
I'm a huge fan of toffee and fudge so a little bag of yummy toffee or small box of baileys fudge would go down very well in my stocking!

chocolates
Coins are the classic, every stocking should have some chocolate coins in it but there is no harm in a visit to Hotel Chocolat for a tasty small eton mess slab ;)

benefit
Another great set of miniature beauty gifts also available in Boots are Benefit mini products or trial sizes. They have a great little selection and at this time of year the gift sets can just be broken down and wrapped up individually, perfect!

jewellery
Costume is fine, great in fact as it's easy to wear and easy to find for the buyer. I suggest h&m, topshop, miss selfridge and new look for a quick look at their jewellery section.

gloves, hats & snoods
A snood or scarf will work depending on the size of the stocking or type of scarf, if you choose a thin cotton material for accessorising rather than warmth then that will fit easily. With a snood something pretty but not chunky would be best and same goes for the hat and gloves really. Being Christmas everybody likes a novelty quirky accessory so something like these rudolf accessories for river island or simple animal mittens from primark are a good go to. Try h&m, primark, new look or river island.

slipper socks
Cosy and fun slipper socks are easy! Those from primark are fine, great infact as I love my existing pairs :)

hot water bottle
Im not sure if you've noticed but it's cold.. And it's going to get colder so you can't go wrong with anything that is going to help warm someone up! A hot water bottle is easy to get hold of and pretty cheap, primark have a selection of different designs. Or how about some hand warmers? Boots sell these adorable owl hand warmers and they also have a hedgehog and fox design.

nail varnish
Small and perfectly formed, especially for a stocking gift. Just head to Boots (again) pick a brand and pick a colour. If your unsure on colour then go safe, in my book that means deep shades like dark purple, green or red but glitter is also pretty easy because it's Christmas and sparkly nails are a must! Brands I would suggest are; essie, barry m or models own - all are in most boots stores so are easily accessible.

beauty tools
I'm not talking makeup brushes because some people are fussier than others but things like nail files, nail buffers, tweezers, eyelash curlers and things like that are always great to have around and you can't really go wrong with buying them.

hair accessories
The same as beauty tools, hair accessories are always great to have around especially as they are easily misplaced! Hair grips, hair bands and even a tangle teezer will fit perfectly in a stocking.

harry potter memorabilia
Obviously not everybody loves the same films but for me i'd love any memorabilia or gimicky gifts relating to Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Disney films. I love old school Disney :)

lingerie
Intimates are a loveeeely stocking treat that i'm sure lots of women would be thrilled to receive and they can usually be folded up pretty small into a special little package at the bottom of a stocking. I'm victoria secret dreaming at the moment!

I hope this helped and if it's too late then maybe bookmark it for your man next year? :)

Merry almost Christmas!
