candlelit homes

We always have candles lit in our house, no matter the time of year, weather or goings on. We seem to prefer to light a couple of candles rather than turning lights on, the mood is better, the ambiance is nicer and we tend to watch movies when home in the evenings - call it cinematic lighting if you like.

There are a few reasons why we like to have scented candles dotted around and one of them is because we have a dog. I'm very wary of the house 'smelling like dog' because let's face it Milo is a big hairy alaskan malamute, his hair gets everywhere so it's not unrealistic that our home smell a bit like him. Hoovering and cleaning constantly probably does the job but i'm so concious of it. I've found that scented candles, Yankee Candles especially, do a great job at making our home smell lovely, no matter what. I'm not a fan of air fresheners, plug in the wall or otherwise as they don't do nearly as good a job of making our home smell good as the jar candles do (nor do they smell as nice as candles anyway).

These 3 candles are from the Scented Candle Shop and cost around £30 all together with a total burning time of approximately 170 hours. I ordered the Bahama Breeze and I wanted something fruity and fresh, it definitely delivers. The pink dragon fruit candle smells delicious! Then finally my favourite, Vanilla Lime, this smells like Lime starburst and gives off a beautiful fresh and sweet scent.

Which is your favourite??
