Recently I have been paying more attention to myself, my health and my fitness. Yes I know that i'm not big and i've never been fat but that has little to do with me being fit and healthy! Feeling sluggish, faint and not having the ability to run very far without being completely breathless is no life and actually incredibly draining. If i'm honest, i'm not really sure how I have managed to be so lazy for so long, especially knowing now how good working out makes me feel. Ok so at first I feel a little like death, but once you have the right motivation behind you, it's pretty easy to push through that part and just do it!
Since talking about working out and fitness etc on my social accounts I have had a few questions about what I do to keep fit and healthy etc so I have put together a bit of a ramble explaining some things. If you have any questions then feel free to ask :)
what i wear
What I wear depends on what exercising i'm doing, so for cycling I will wear this oakley stretch vest top and a pair of cropped trousers, the top is slightly more loose than my other tops so it's perfect for the exercise bike and will be great for when I pluck up the courage to go for a run. When working my abs and upper body I like to be able to see how my body is reacting so i'll wear a cropped top or sports bra and some cropped trousers. I also wear these trousers when working my legs but i'd like to get hold of some gym shorts or something so that I can see and feel the difference in my legs a little more.
what i do
These two images were given to me by a friend at work as a good nudge in the right direction when I first decided that simply cycling wasn't enough anymore. I needed more of an exercising regime, something that I could follow step by step that and would keep me on track and therefor motivated. These workouts work a treat and I still use both graphics now - though i'm dithering back and forth between days 18 and 23 on the abs challenge at the moment.
As well as these exercises I also try to do 15k-30k on the exercise bike twice a week. I'm not a hardcore fitness freak by any means, I do each of these things twice a week (maybe three) and I enjoy it but I have a lot of other commitments so it is hard to fit more in. Not that I feel I need to workout more at the moment, the main thing for me is that I feel fit, healthy and good in my own skin :)
what i eat
I'm not going to pretend to be a healthy eater, I often have huge portions for dinner, especially for meals I love like spaghetti and meatballs or this giant salad. I eat a fair amount of not healthy food and if it is healthy then I probably have a huge portion. I just love food! I know that I could eat a lot healthier than I do at the moment as I really enjoy fruit, vegetables and nuts etc but to be honest I can be quite lazy when it comes to meal preparation and it doesn't help having quite a fussy boyfriend, I don't fancy making two different meals most nights. At the moment my metabolism is still quite good so I don't yet feel required to eat healthily all week with just one cheat day .. i'm sure that my time will come!
what inspires me
Most of what inspires me is social media communities, especially the enormous instagram fitness community. A follow a lot of great motivational women and personal fitness accounts from around the world as well as informative food and and workout profiles.
Looking at these pages inspires me to workout as well as make a rather large nike order! These are some of my favourite pages for fit and healthy inspiration (Not thinspiration! There is a difference!) dailymotivators, fitfamlife, misstambam82, youngandaesthetic, lydiaemillen, hannahpolites.
I hope that you liked this post and possibly found it useful or inspirational in some way. If you'd like to hear more about my health and fitness as I progress then please comment or feel free to email me :)
